A Great Visit to Word of Life Bible Institute

On November 30 we had a great time visiting Word of Life Bible Institute in Upstate NY. Amy, Ben, and Jovan traveled with Pastor Greg Dyson to visit Word of Life Bible Institute (WOLBI).

Looking at their program was a real eye opener for Ben as well as for Amy and Jovan. Since accepting Christ a few months ago, Ben, who is now 18, has been considering what God might want to do in his life in the near future. That opened up a serious discussion about attending a 1-year Bible program locally.

Amy has visited WOLBI many times as a camper. The students there run an annual snow camp on the weekends in the winter time and she has attended with her church, First Central Baptist in Chicopee, many times. Amy is applying for colleges right now, and traveled with us as we attended a college fair a few months ago at Gordon College, outside of Boston. There were colleges there from IL (Like North Park University) and from as far away as the West Coast (Azusa Pacific in CA). Amy has helped out at The Lion's Den in the past and if you notice the nice art work on the window guards at The Den, you are seeing Amy's handiwork!

Jovan had never been to a college fair before and this was a great experience for him. As a youth involved at Evangelical Covenant Church of Indian Orchard, it was great for him to connect with a teen from The Lion's Den and a teen from a church in a neighboring city. Jovan had the opportunity to meet teens from as far away as Chile that were attending Word of Life for their one year program.

As a 1985 graduate of Word of Life, Pastor Greg Dyson has a special spot in his heart for this school (we think it is because that is where he met and dated his wife Gina!). The founder of Word of Life, Jack Wyrtzen, traveled with Billy Graham in the early days, and if you think The Lion's Den ("building for a dollar") story is incredible, you'd love to hear the purchase of the Word of Life Island story! Jack so often said, "If you're not sure what you are going to do next year, spending a year studying the word of God can be an exciting option for you!"

Pastor Greg took Jack up on that offer and later transferred his year of Bible from WOLBI to Cedarville University, where he received a BA in Bible. "As I look at all of the education I've been blessed to receive at Cedarville and Philadelphia Biblical University, I must say none of that would have been a reality if I didn't first attend WOLBI and deepen my love for God and His Word there." Please pray for teens as they consider their future and the options that are before them, especially in this area of education.
