Your donation will help the Lion’s Den continue to make a difference in the lives of othersMost teens are not interested in churches or parishes Only 15% of teens will actually come out and see what's going on in a church/parish youth ministry setting," says Pastor Greg Dyson. "The question that presses the limit is about all the rest of the teens that will never darken the doors of our churches or youth programs—what about the other 85%? If church or parish is a place outside the home that moral values are deepened and the majority of youth don’t go there, than the current state of our communities should be no surprise to us. Without morals, teen violence, hatred and angry will run unchecked.
You can make a difference The Lion's Den was founded with the belief that people can make a difference in this very hopeless situation we live in. As youth looking for a place to “hang out” wander into the Lion’s Den, they play pool, eat, use the computers, work out in the weight room and use the recording studio facilities. At some point and time each day we are open, we stop everything and offer a brief Bible study for the teens. No one is “required” to attend. In fact if they want to leave during that time that is fine. “Don’t let the door hit you on the way out”. However, we believe that Jesus can make a difference in their lives and so we would be negligent not to offer His deepest truths to those interested in hearing.
It's the only life you have....get busy for Jesus "We felt strongly that in order for the center to sustain itself, we needed to start this project, but not own it," Dyson said. "We started with a small local church of about 150 people and we've gotten great deal of support from many congregations. A lot of the muscle for this program has come from far beyond one local church. We have asked other churches in our community and around the world to 'buy into' this M.A.S.H. unit concept with us and it has worked out fabulously. About thirty churches contribute in various ways to The Lion's Den. Businesses have also taken part in the project and the DEA (Drug Enforcement Administration) as well as the Community Anti Drug Coalition connect with The Lion's Den. When we make a difference in the lives of others, it effects the entire community" |
